Briston and Hunworth Art Trail

Come and meet people who are passionate about art!

Six artists living in Briston and Hunworth have created an art trail as part of Norfolk Open Studios 09. They are a multi-talented group, offering printmaking, painting and glassmaking. They all have very different approaches to their art, making the trail both varied and interesting. They are all happy to talk about their inspirations and techniques and you may be lucky enough to get a demonstration - in a quiet moment.

The Briston and Hunworth Art Trail has been sponsored by the Hunny Bell pub at Hunworth, where you could start or finish the trail with a great meal.  Collect a free raffle ticket at every studio you visit and you could win £60 of vouchers to be spent there.

THE ARTISTS:

Josie Nudd lives in Hunybeach next to Hunworth church. She has a versatile and intuitive approach and paints in acrylic and mixed media, using a combination of abstract themes from landscapes and texture. (Contact tel: 01263 712237)

Kate Green also lives in Hunworth, in Malthouse cottage, Kings Street. She produces poetic and delicate paintings which tell a story, mainly birds and animals against a decorative landscape or interior. (Contact tel: 01263 710629)

Nicky Webb is at 37 Wellington Road (behind Ekes Garage) in Briston. She uses her kiln, and her embroidery training, to form organic and tactile glass objects such as vases, bowls and many other beautiful objects. (Contact tel: 01263 862253)

Down The Lane at the end of Long Yard, you will find Colin Bygrave, who makes etchings. He carries out the whole meticulous process himself and his prints are deep and detailed in his own unmistakable style. (Contact tel: 01263 860473)

At the far end of Briston, HJ Jackson can be found at 167 Hall Street. His Open Studio will include an exhibition to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the closure of the M&GN Railway, although he is best known for his prints of the declining fishing industry. (Contact tel: 01263 860871)

Sandi Westwood’s studio is just round the corner at Hawksbill, Craymere Road. She is an oil painter, inspired by the natural world and the ethereal dimensions around it. (01263 862477)

Information and maps of the trail will be available from many local venues, including the Hunny Bell, Briston village shops and the Tourist Information Centre in Holt. For more information you can contact Sandi Westwood on 01263 862477.

So follow the trail signs from the B1354 and you could be inspired!

Five artists living in Hindolveston, Gunthorpe and Fulmodeston, have got together and formed a 'mini art trail'

Between them the artists work in a wide range of media and use a variety of techniques.  Visit them all and you can be entered for a draw to win a voucher offering £50 discount off a piece of work by one of the five.

All the artists are more than happy to be watched at work and, of course, to chat about their work, techniques and inspirations.  the artists are:

Edward Goodridge:     lives at High House, Barney Road, Fulmodeston (01328 878608) and uses oils and watercolour to capture people,                                           animals and landscapes.

Lilian Shaw:                   can be found at Brook Hollow, Heath Lane, Gunthorpe (01263 861932); Lilian works mostly in soft pastel and her                                               subject matter includes French buildings, Swedish lakes and gardens.

Audrey Bould:               lives at 2 The Street, Hindolveston (01263 861748).  Her work is mainly soft pastel but she occasionally
uses other media.  She paints local landscapes and architecture from life as well as seasonal still life.

Bronwyn Thomas:      is just round the corner from Audrey, at The White House, Pinfold Lane, Hindolveston (01263 860858).
She uses mixed media to create still life and to explore the natural world; she also does delicate figurative
                                         pastel work.

Pauline Wrighton:       towards the eastern end of Hindolveston, Pauline is to be found at Rose Cottage, 89 The Street (01263 861083).
Her work uses textile and fibre embellished with stitch to create panels, hangings and accessories.

Local flyers, complete with map showing the artists' locations, can be found at Fakenham Library, Picturecraft in Holt and also at The Old Gatehouse Cafe on the B1354, just south of Gunthorpe.  All the artists taking part also have these local flyers.

Come and meet and talk to these exciting artists and maybe you could win the voucher entitling you to £50 discount off a work by one of them.
